Heroscape Game Overview

One of the more popular board games of today’s generation is that of Heroscape. This turn-based miniature board game was initially introduced by the folks at Milton Bradley but today is made by Wizards of the Coast. This entire game is played using pre-painted figurines on a hexagonal game board in which you are in control of the terrain using interlocking pieces that can be stacked upon one another. The concept behind the use of these hexagonal pieces is to allow you the ability to play a truly three dimensional board game with your friends. Each and every single piece in the game features exceptionally designed and painted characteristics which make playing it even more enjoyable.

It was back in 2004 when the game was initially released thanks to the development team of Craig Van Ness, Stephen Baker and Rob Daviau. In play, the game has been developed to allow any number of possible players between 2 and 8. However, thanks to the extensive adaptability of the game itself, one can easily adapt it to accommodate many more players. Through the purchase of multiple master and expansion sets, it is very simple to create an increasingly larger board to play on.

There are basically two sets of rules in order to play the game. While this may seem confusing, in reality it is not. The first set of rules is intended for younger players and those wishing to play a quick game of Heroscape. The second set of rules is for those who are a little more advanced and looking for a bigger game.

Most often, players of Heroscape will collect and utilize more then one master set in game play in order to build a virtually limitless number of possible game play scenarios. There are tiles such as grass and rocks as well as water, ruins and more all in an attempt to make the actual game play more enjoyable and of course more elaborate.

The game of Heroscape is an epic battle between the many popular characters from several lifetimes of cultures, genres and period. It allows for a totally three dimensional game play thanks to the ability to change the elevations and terrains. Expansion sets are regularly released, the most recent of which being the 10th Expansion: Valkrill's Gambit. Many players overtime will develop their own set of rules as well. This helps to increase the fun of playing Heroscape. Each and every single character is based on a popular period of time and can be both from books as well as reality. Imagine the gladiators of Rome fighting out with the ancient dinosaurs or the Japanese Samurai going head to head with the popular Marvel Comics characters. These are all possibilities when you sit down to play a game of Heroscape.

One does not even have to set up the board as it is stated in the manual either because they can set it up any way they like and in no time at all begin and epic battle through time. Countless people all over the world today play Heroscape on a regular basis.
